This is a finger-picking tune like many I heard when I was learning to play guitar from records by my early folk heroes--Ramblin’ Jack Elliot, Dave Van Ronk, Bob Dylan. Randy and I first worked on this (and “Enough for Today”) at a campground during Merlefest 2009, the giant bluegrass and Americana festival in Wilkesboro NC, and it seemed totally appropriate in that setting. Randy did have some questions about the lyrics, like what the heck the song is about. I’m still not sure, but who cares: It’s a train song.
